China’s economy is projected to outpace both the United States and the European Union by staggering margins by 2025, according to data shared by Elon Musk. The Tesla and xAI CEO cited figures from his AI firm’s model, Grok, which estimates China’s GDP at $35.29 trillion—$7 trillion above the US and $14 trillion above the EU when measured by purchasing power parity (PPP).
Musk remarked that the numbers, which suggest China’s economy is 1.23 times larger than America’s and 1.6 times the EU’s, ’come as a surprise to most people.’ The revelation underscores China’s accelerating economic dominance, even as global markets recalibrate expectations.
